Personalized Book Boxes

Yes; this is what I am doing after working 10+ hours a day and not reading your books!

None of these are completed, and all need some alcohol ink and a whole lot of resin!

Another vacation is forthcoming, along with 4 book reviews for what I have read in the last 2 weeks.

What are you reading right now? I am missing reading my cozy mysteries as I am in the middle of writing two!

Quite talented! I’m ready a historical romance book by Kim Williams .

Do tell; I am not familiar with her!

      • Jerah Alvarado's avatar txjessy August 20, 2018 / 7:49 pm

She is an indie Christian author. It is a very charming book she based it on some love letters her great grandfather wrote 🙂

That is awesome! I just spent a pretty penny for WW2 letters from two brothers from my hometown who wrote to their mother and sister! There is definitely a story there and I am cataloging everything!

OMG!! That is exciting, I’ll be looking forward to them. What a great opportunity!

I don’t think the people auctioning everything off looked very close. I have all kinds of foreign money worth a lot; as well as the news clipping one son sent back when Hitlers’ left hand man signed to end the war 😬

That is so awesome! You have a true treasure right there!

Indeed!!! My girls are helping me file everything and it is such a teaching lesson for them!

You said you were writing, do you have any published?

      • Angela's avatar Angela August 20, 2018 / 7:51 pm

Not yet; I am looking for a publisher. Right now I edit books for other authors 😁

      • Jerah Alvarado's avatar txjessy August 20, 2018 / 7:58 pm

That’s awesome. I want to start writing but, I’m going to wait until both my girls start school. So a couple of more weeks :). Mine will be a woman’s fiction that’s floating around in my head lol.

I would love to hear what you are thinking, and help you along the way!

Oh thank you! I want to base it off a few experiences I had in Mexico. I had a couple of friends who lost their battle to cancer over there. I kinda want to combine thier stories and my experience as I went down this journey with them. The Healthcare system over there is one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen. I have plenty to share about the awful hospital experience where dozens of cancer patients camped outside, spending multiple nights in the parking lot, waiting to be seen… even if you had an appointment. Very few hospitals give chemo over there so many patients travel hours, only to be told they can’t be seen the day of their appointment. I don’t want it to be super morbid but, I do want to bring awareness. 🙂

That definitely sounds like something that needs to be told, and I’m sorry for the sadness it has brought you.

Thank you it has been almost 19 years since my first friend passed. One learns to cope but never forgets:).

Nice! Coincidentally I’ve just bought some wooden boxes to decorate myself and was thinking of doing something similar. I have found a fabric to cover one, an old birthday card with a nice bookish sentiment and might paint the other. I’m not very artsy though so I’ve been put off. That and I have no paint and didn’t buy glue as it didn’t look safe for me to use, I’m not safe. Wish I was artsy and hope my boxes turn out as good as yours 🙂

I’m currently reading A Feast For Crows by George R.R. Martin. I’ve been going through A Song of Ice and Fire and it’s taken me all summer so far.

I have a book from an author friend that I need to get started on, and am looking forward to finding another good series or two that I can get into!

      • capjct's avatar J.C. August 21, 2018 / 11:50 am

Yeah, I don’t read a lot of book series anymore. I mean, I did when I was growing up, but now it’s mostly either standalone novels that I can get enjoyment out of multiple times, or short trilogies of novels that I can zip through in a quick amount of time. Especially I’m watching a lot of movies and TV shows, and reading a lot of comic books for reviews on a weekly basis, so finding the time to commit to a long series of books is something I don’t usually do anymore. With the exception of Harry Potter.

These look so fun! I love The Great Gatsby and have been reading a lot of Sherlock Holmes stories lately, actually. I’m reading The Children of Blood and Bone right now, though!

I haven’t read that yet but have seen some great reviews on it!

I’ve been magpie-ing my way around the genres. I did The Education of a Coroner—a non-fiction book about the career of the the former coroner of Marin county California then Lake Silenc—a novel set in the world of the Others by one of my favorite authors. I’m currently reading a book from NetGalley I’m really enjoying and just started a time travel mystery that’s not grabbing me as I’d hoped it would.

The book boxes look great! I’m thinking about selling my jewelry though I’m not sure if it’s actually sell or sell at a price that’d make it worthwhile.

These are great! I love to make book related art, as well. My current read is The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl (Trade Paperback) and soon the Alienist as well.

These are so cool! You’re so creative! I am currently reading “The Sentinels of Andersonville” by Tracy Groot. It’s a novel surrounding the concentration camp of the civil war. It’s just the right balance between weighty metaphor and witty humor. I love it! It is quite possibly my new favorite.

    • Angela's avatar Angela August 23, 2018 / 2:06 pm

This definitely sounds like a book I need to find! I am a huge history buff, especially anything to do with the Civil War!

Same! I’m actually working on a novel set in the Reconstruction period about and ex-Confederate soldier as he goes up against the Ku Klux Klan. I’ve really enjoyed the research!
