… I had to order 3 books from a library two hours away, since my library got rid of all of these books😔 How did I miss that sale?
These books are what got me started on my book obsession. And Encyclopedia Brown, of course.
This book is stamped 1974; I was two years old.
There are not too many books I will read over and again; but it has been so long since I read this story that everything is brand new and like I am reading it for the first time.

I never read the Hardy Boys, or Nancy Drew growing up… managed to get to book 42 of Drew in the past year. These stories are amazing, have as many in the series as Hardy Boys, and each book has an introduction from Mr. Hitchcock!

I hadn’t heard of these books either – but I did definitely read all the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books. These look similar! Happy Reading!
Never bothered w/the Hardys or Nancy. But Pete Andrews (the athlete), Bob Crenshaw (the bespeckled, responsible one) and Jupiter Jones (the brain and former child star) from their Junkyard hideout and their gifted Rolls Royce were (with young Master Brown, as well) were what turned me into mystery novel junkie. Read all of them I could get my hands on as often as I could. Now that you’ve triggered these memories, I might have to go grab some.

Ooooh I loved this series… I think they were the best amongst hardy boys and Nancy drew… I had bought the whole series till dad gave them away
I read these, too. I’m sure there are children who would also enjoy this series, especially elementary aged boys. Too bad they were weeded out with the thought that older books are no longer relevant.
I’m not sure why my library removed this series; they still have many of the older series such as Drew, Hardy Boys, Boxcar Children, Little House, etc. it could be they were not getting checked out at the library I use; all of the other libraries hooked to mine still carry them, hank goodness! I would like to have them for my library at home but they are not cheap……

I actually owned three or four of these books when I was growing up in the ’90s. My grandmother went to garage/yard sales every weekend just about and she found a few of the Three Investigators books for me, knowing that I liked the Hardy Boys and Encyclopedia Brown (she also got me a few of those at garage sales). Sadly I don’t have them anymore, but I did read them several times over the years that I had them.
It’s too bad you don’t still have them. I lost many of the books I owned when I was younger due to a flooded basement at my parents where they were all being stored.
We moved into a smaller house two and a half years ago, so we had to get rid of 90% of what we’d accumulated over the preceding 19 years we’d lived in that house for, and that meant most of the books I had, because I had a lot of books and not enough space to store them in without keeping a stack of boxes in the basement. But, if I can find other copies of them at a used book store or a yard sale or something then I’m planning on re-acquiring them.
OMG! Yes, of course. I especially loved Encyclopedia Brown! I still have a full set of The Hardy Boys Hardback from the 70’s.
I have not read those books. I have just finished reading “Map of Bones” by James Rollins – superb novel and I am starting on reading the 4th Ranger’s Apprentice novel.

Yes, of course I’ve read both the Alfred Hitchcock Investigators, The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, The Boxcar Children and tons of children’s series. I read them first as a kid, introduced my 6th and 7th graders to them, fought hard to keep a “progressive” librarian from throwing them out of our junior high library because they were too “formulaic” therefore too easy. Recently, I have introduced these series to my Teacherwannabees who will be teaching kids in the near future. As a retired teacher with 50 years of teaching under my belt, I often pick them up at Half Price Books and place them in my Little Free Library in my yard for my neighborhood kids to read and love as I have all my life.

Hardy Boys, Three Investigators, and Nancy Drew at one point or another.
Never read Drew or Hardy while I was growing up ! Love them now! I was too busy with the Three Investigators 🙂
