This is a time like no other; a time that no one (nearly no one) alive today has experienced before. Depending where you live, you could be deep into this, or it is just starting to hit your area. Michigan has shut down all kindergarten through 12th grade schools, nearly all colleges are doing online classes with campuses and dorms being closed. State and City businesses are closed as well.
I, however, still get to go to work every day. It would take a Presidential order for that to change! π My teenager will be home for the next 3-4 weeks, and I already have a list of things in my mind that she can do around the house once her schoolwork is done. Iβm not holding my breath (no pun intended), but hopefully she can help me out!
What doesnβt help is that my 3 local libraries are also closed. I have 3 books checked out right now (a cozy series) that I have to read yet, but I was hoping to get more picked up. I have many different books downloaded on my Nook, so I will be happy to start getting those read instead.
Some of my favorite cozy series are listed below!
Sherry Harris – Sarah Winston Garage Sale Series
Julianna Deering – Drew Farthering Mysteries
Maddie Day (Edith Mawell) – Country Store Mystery SeriesΒ
Kelly Lane – Olive Grove Mysteries
Bailey Cates – Magical Bakery Mystery Series
Kylie Logan – Ethnic Eats Mystery Series
What are you reading? Are you quarantined? Sick? Caring for someone who is sick? How are you handling this new Normal we have for at least the next few weeks?
Schools in the UK are still open, but there’s no professional sport. It’s very weird having a weekend with no football or tennis to watch. And everyone is stockpiling toilet paper! We hear all these stories about how the wartime generation stoically made it through the Blitz, and one sign of trouble now and everyone rushes out to buy a million toilet rolls!
No sports here in the states either; many are upset about Basketball’s Big Ten tournament being cancelled/delayed. The whole toilet paper thing has me baffled…. Our stores here have no toilet paper, meat, or bread. Plenty of cold medications though…
I like this!
Thanks for that little miss! Stay well!
(Haha, yeah, I NEED a new username, but this okay.) Same to you!
Perfect idea for a post right now! I work at a library and we’re closing all our branches for the same duration as the schools are closed (3 weeks here in Ohio).
It is for the best. And you work in a library ?!?!?! I would be in heaven with that job! Thanks for sharing and stay well!
I work in the admin office, so Iβm pretty far removed from the books. But itβs still good haha. Hope you stay well, also!
Thanks for recommending my alter-ego’s book! Maddie Day and I are delighted to keep people company in their self-isolation.
You are very welcome! I absolutely adore Robbie Jordan and Pans and Pancakes π
LOVE Sherry Harris and Edith (Maddie Day) Maxwell’s series. Cozies are the perfect read for the stressed times. I can’t wait to check out the others. Anyone who recommends these two authors knows what they are talking about!
Thanks Jeanie! Cozies are the best π the others on the list are pretty fantastic as well!
What a smart and timely post. Am saving it for future shopping (on line, of course).
I have a few e-books on my radar as well! Thanks for stopping by and sharing! Stay well!
Here is a tip..see if your library has website and a download for Libby or Overdrive app…you can then check out eboomks or audibooks….I have not read any of these…thanks for the suggestions! My favorites are Janet Evanovich and Lauren Elliott.
My library has something called Hoobly for Audio books which I just signed up for π I also have an actual library in my house that has many books I haven’t read yet….and I still go to the library every week π
Thanks, I’ll need to check out the Drew Farthering Mysteries. I love those covers.
You will not be disappointed! π
Our schools are also all shut – best of luck with coping with the home schooling:)). I love the look of the Julianna Deering books – what smart, stylish, period covers!
Those books are the best! I liked them so much I actually bought 2 autographed ones and gave them away on my blog! I just worked my last day for at least the next four weeks so now itβs yard work when itβs nice out, and inside painting when itβs not! Be well and thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome, Angela – and I hope you and yours stay safe and well, too!
Thanks for sharing!
