George was born in Motihari, India, and his given birth name was Eric Arthur Blair. He was a heavy smoker, which did not help the fact that he had weak lungs. He died at his young age of tuberculosis.

Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle KStJ, DL

Died: July 7, 1930

Wrote: The Sherlock Holmes Mysteries

Mr. Doyle was a Scottish Physician as well as a writer. Most famously known for writing Sherlock Holmes, he wrote 60 mysteries that centered around Sherlock and Watson. He was married twice; his first wife dying of tuberculosis. He had a total of 5 children.

Many have grown up with Charlotte’s Web and Stuart Little being some of the first books we were introduced to as children. I wish more children today still felt the enjoyment and wonder of walking into a library and seeing nothing but shelves full of adventure, mystery, heartbreak, and miracles.
