I Need a Literature Based Name…

…for my new kitten. Yes; my new kitten. I know this is a blog about books, but as books are my life, and I am getting this new kitten in two weeks, I need his name to be amazing.

I have a 2 year old Hairless Sphynx, Beeblebrox Bare Bottom Benjamin Blu. Beeblebrox is my breeders name that is on all of her kittens, and I get a total of 35 letters and spaces, including her breeder name. I got Benny maxed out at 35. His official name is ridiculous, but he is just Benny to me ๐Ÿ™‚ Bare Bottom for the lack of hair, and Blu because of those amazing eyes.

So, I am getting another Hairless Sphynx, and this one is a ginger. And here he is…

Ginger Boy!

So I immediately thought Rip Van Wrinkled, and call him Ripper. Or Bilbo Baggyskins. You see the trend here? My girls have been calling him Cheddar since they saw this picture.

I love Sherlock Holmes. Dr. John Want-Some Fur, and call him Watson? Mr. Tumnus? I am obsessed with Abraham Lincoln, but neither is an option for personal reasons due to the nick-names I know he will get.

No Weasley’s; my girls are mad about that.

Anything? Anyone?

These boys are beautiful! I miss my dearly departed Sphynx girls so much. Good luck with the name. I never end up calling my cats by their real names-I come up with some ridiculous versions!

Thanks for sharing Michelle. When I have to say goodbye to Benny, I will be a blubbering mess for a month at least.

I actually call him Bubby now ๐Ÿ™‚ or my little man ๐Ÿ™‚

My husband and I still break down when we remember our girls. We’ve now adopted two Devon Rex boys (one is hairless, the other is curly).

It is so hard to heal from the loss of a pet. I had a miniature dachshund that I begged my parents for, for a year. My Dad bought me that dog, and he was my life. He wasn’t even 2 years old when my grandma’s neighbor shot him. I found him, and lost my mind. I still think about him all the time.

He looks like a lovely boy. He deserves a lovely name.

I like Bilbobaggyskins for the grey cat as its skin is so baggy! What amazing eyes they are electrifying.. I love cats I was so upset when my cat died when I was 19 that he came back as a ghost for 3 months after he died. I could hear his breathing, feel him walking on top of my duvet and snuggling into his preferred sleeping spot between my leg and the wall. Actually I was so devoted to my cat I’ve never been able to have a pet since. Maybe that will change in the future. Good luck with the names..

Angela; your cats are incredible and that’s coming from a dog person ๐Ÿ™‚ The new little one looks so intelligent already. I Googled literary cat names and came up with Katniss from the Hunger Games or the Artful Dodger or Pickwick from Dickens. Please post when you decide, I’m curious ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Angela March 8, 2016 / 7:55 am

Thank Aimer! I think I need to put both Artful Dodger and Pickwick on my list. I will definitely update when I pick. I never had a hard time coming up with a pet name before ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks Courtney! I think I will search Egyptian names, whether from literature or not, and see what I find ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh My Goodness he does look like a Smeagle ๐Ÿ™‚ Definitely a possibility.

The little guy is lucky I have a limited number of spaces I can use, or he would likely have the longest pet name in history!

Paddington Bearington of Deepest Peru (for his love of Marmalade)

    • Angela March 8, 2016 / 8:55 pm

The total baldness is a little disconcerting initially.Study the personality a bit and I think I might consider Boo Radley! I would just call him Boo or BooBoo if I were feeling affectionate.

That would have been brilliant! He has since been named; Franklin. Thanks for sharing!

    So pretty!

Thanks Kimberly! It’s nice having boys in the house after having 4 daughters! And people always ask why I would never buy a female pet! ๐Ÿ™‚
