Then The Deluge Comes – Caryl McAdoo

Book two in The Generations series was everything I hoped for, and so much more!

This story picks up the story of Noah, starting before his birth to give you a great setting of what was going on. This is an accurate story about the book of Genesis, and what Noah and his wife, sons, and daughters-in-law went through to build this massive ship. For no other reason than they were told by God to do so, to save their family.

This story goes between what is happening on Earth, and what is happening in Heaven with God. They are intertwined, always, and helps you understand why those of us on Earth would have to experience hardship and struggles.

Caryl sets an environment for her stories that have you feeling like you are sitting in the middle of all of the activity; seeing what they see, hearing what they hear, and tasting what they eat.

As this book is not yet officially “published”, I prefer to not give too much away. But I have to say, if you enjoy religious stories, especially ones that give you even more than you will read in Scripture, you certainly want to see what she is writing.

Giving glory to God, Caryl helps make the connection for those who may be sitting on the fence about their religion.

Hope Reborn – Caryl McAdoo

Another fantastic story by Caryl; if you have not had a chance to read some of her novels yet, you have got to pick one up and read it, as soon as possible.

Yes, like right now. You should get on your Amazon account, search her name, and just pick a book. Any book will do. They are all great, and it is a perfect day to start a new story.

Okay, back to the story…Hope Reborn is a historical romance novel, set in Texas in the 1850’s. It centers around Millicent May Meriwether, but do not call her Millicent. She writes romance novels, and decides to make her way to Texas both to research for future novels, as well as help a family friend.

Receiving a warm welcome into Texas, May and her personal assistance and Man-of-All-Things-Needed, Chester, end up taking temporary residence at the estate of Henry Buckmeyer. A widower with a brood of children, and a staff to help run his estate, May is afraid she may have indeed found what she has been looking for; a man to spend the rest of her life with. Afraid because she has lost and suffered so much already.

May and Henry both seem to have secrets to hide, and May needs to decide if she can give her whole self to this man who lost so much when he lost his wife. A man of Faith might just be the undoing of May and her hopes and dreams. She never could understand why anyone would believe in fairytales like God and Jesus.

As storylines intertwine, May and Henry are not the only ones who find answers to questions long asked. More than one situation finds the resolution needed and desired.

As I try to never give away spoilers, this is one book you will need to read for yourself. It is well-written, clean, and has you hoping and cheering for everyone involved.

Lady Luck’s a Loser – Caryl McAdoo

I loved this story! It was a fast, easy read that drew me in from chapter one. You are dying to know right from the beginning what is really going on with W.G. Preston, and why he is running a “bachelor” style contest on his apple orchard.

More importantly, you are really concerned about Marge, what she is feeling, and what she is going to decide to do. She is being pulled between her good common sense and her growing love for a man who hired her in order to fire her, if luck was not on her side.

I again cannot give any spoilers here, but this is a clean romance novel that is fun, exciting, and full of suspense that will have you staying up late to read it to the end. It certainly did for me!

The Generations Series: A Little Lower Than the Angels (Book 1) – Caryl McAdoo

If you love the stories of the Bible, if you are new to reading the Bible, or a seasoned expert looking to expand on the stories surrounding the creation of the human race- this story is the perfect place to start.

This first in The Generations Series, titled A Little Lower than the Angels, takes you through the lives of Adam and Eve, and Cain and Abel, and how the choices they each willfully made affected the rest of their lives.

You will experience Abel and his interactions in Heaven with various cherubim, his constant questioning of when the rest of his family will join him, and the biggest question of if Cain himself will be able to join him there.

Watch as Adam and Eve deal with the disobedience and sin of Cain, and his disappearance with his sister and wife, Sheriah. Adam and Eve are again left alone, Eve seemingly unable to bear the burden of her guilt that all of this tragedy her family is experiencing is due to her original sin in the Garden of Eden. Will she ever be able to repent enough and again enjoy a life on Earth with her husband? Your heart breaks right along with her as she buries her son into the ground, not quite understanding her husband’s insistence that they are from the earth, and to it they must return.

The facts in this story are true to the Bible, and come from the King James Version. The story is one interpretation of what life may have been like; what this family may have experienced as they lived through the ups and downs of their lives during this time period.

This story is a triumph for Biblical fiction: it gets everything right, while adding to the story to allow the reader to experience what the early Christians went through for and because of their faith.

I do not think Caryl McAdoo could write the remaining books of this series fast enough for me!

Be sure to visit her website for more great reads! I have another one already, and cannot wait to read it!

The Books and Authors I Have Gathered Up So Far!

Okay, so nobody panic. I have it all under control. I will be posting below the authors and their books that I have gathered up today, so they know I will be reviewing their work. I do not have a Kindle, but luckily I can use their free app to read the stories. On my Nook HD 🙂 I am currently reading “Freecurrent; The Legacy” by Deanna J. Compton. This is the first of three books in this series, but I will be reading other stories in between. She is an author from my hometown in Michigan, and I met her this summer at a local festival.

I am also still 2 weeks out from finishing my last class of the year for my MBA. So, that does put a small crimp in my reading time. But have no fear; I love to read. I can read a book in a day. I do not read more than one book at a time. I have tried this before, and it just makes both stories less enjoyable. I do not speed read, skip paragraphs, chapters, or go to the back to see how it ends. I thoroughly read each book, enjoying every moment of everything that is going on. For me, reading is my escape; to quietness, different places, different worlds; where I get to meet people that become important to me (we will not even begin discussing my love for Harry Potter!)

I have also sent some of you emails letting you know I have your books, but for some reason yahoo is not giving me the “message sent” box, so I am thinking it is not going through. The emails I forwarded to my work email this morning did not show up either.

If your name and book are below, I have your story. I will be reviewing them pretty close to the order you asked for me to review; if I have a shorter book that I know I can get finished in a sitting, I may put that one in front of another. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I do not post a review without you seeing it first. If I do not like your book; I will let you know. It is certainly not my intention or plan to destroy anyone’s writing career. But I also cannot consciously give a 5 star review for a book that bored me. You do understand, right?

It is my goal to assist you in fulfilling your dreams of becoming a writer, while fulfilling the thing I love doing more than anything; reading books and the proper use of the English language.

If you feel you have not heard from me in an unordinary long time, do not hesitate to email me. I have a full time job, part time college, 4 daughters, one who homeschools, and a nekkid kitty that demands attention at the drop of a hat.

And just because he is so stinking cute, and has been eyeing me for the past 2 hours from his bed on the top of the fridge while I am shopping on Amazon, here is Bare Bottom Benjamin Blu, or Benny for short. He likes it when I read because  he knows he has a warm lap for several hours 🙂

Like I said, do not panic! I have this all under control. I am looking forward to reading some great stories, as well as using this ridiculous knowledge I have for English and grammar for something worthwhile.
