Babylon Rising – Tim LaHaye and Greg Dinallo

Wow! Just Wow! What a page turner this story is! This was another random find as I was strolling through the aisles in my library, and I grabbed this book and the second book in the series. As I normally do, I looked it up online to find out exactly how many books are in this series.

I was hesitant to even start this book (series) as not only did I find there are 4 books, but all of the reviews lead me to believe that the fourth book did not wrap up any of the stories, and that at least one more book was meant to be/needed to be written.

Did I want to start a series that was not going to be wrapped up all nice and neat at the last book available? Not really. But it is about Biblical history, prophecy, and the coming end times, all of which fascinate me. So I got comfortable in my bed, or I should say my two cats got comfortable on me in my bed, and I opened the book.

Michael Murphy is a Professor, as well as Biblical Archaeologist. Thanks to a nemesis who is more than willing to have Murphy (as he is called) risk his life to get his hands on these historical treasures, this latest test involves the book of Daniel, and an object that is not only priceless, but will also help Murphy in his quest to prove the Bible is historically true.

This book is one you will not be able to put down; or at least I couldn’t as I read it in a day. The twists and turns will have your heart not only racing, but also breaking, and celebrating all at the same time. There is a group of people who have set out to make all Evangelical Christians look like fanatics willing to do anything, and I mean anything, to get their point across to the public. Who would devise such a plan, and why? And why is this small group of people so powerful that they are able to get a few individuals to do their bidding, no questions asked?

I cannot wait to start book 2, The Secret on Ararat, and hope I do not regret reading this series which does not end all wrapped up nice and clean with a bow on it.

Judas: The Relic – Roy Bright

Another brilliant installment in the Judas Trilogy, and author Roy Bright delivers again! It was completely random that I stumbled upon the first book, and I am so glad I did. Not only did I get a fantastic story that I could not put down, but I met a wonderful author as well!

This second installment in the series has Charlotte growing up in an alternate realm, going from a child to an 18 year old adult. Judas wanted her to have as much of a normal childhood as possible, before she has to save the world. Although none of this was real, and took only days to pass, Charlotte is grateful for the experiences and childhood she was given.

Judas is still protecting Charlotte, although it is now time for her to step into her role as “The Light”, the one who will save the world. This story is full of action, suspense, and raw emotions as you journey along with Charlotte to face her greatest challenge so far.

There is more insight into Judas, his past, and how he deals with being the betrayer of Christ. Without dripping in religion, the author draws a brilliant picture of Heaven, Hell, and the beings who occupy both.

As I always try to avoid spoilers, I will have to leave it at that. But I cannot recommend enough that you read Judas (book 1) and Judas: the Relic. You will not be disappointed!

Then The Deluge Comes – Caryl McAdoo

Book two in The Generations series was everything I hoped for, and so much more!

This story picks up the story of Noah, starting before his birth to give you a great setting of what was going on. This is an accurate story about the book of Genesis, and what Noah and his wife, sons, and daughters-in-law went through to build this massive ship. For no other reason than they were told by God to do so, to save their family.

This story goes between what is happening on Earth, and what is happening in Heaven with God. They are intertwined, always, and helps you understand why those of us on Earth would have to experience hardship and struggles.

Caryl sets an environment for her stories that have you feeling like you are sitting in the middle of all of the activity; seeing what they see, hearing what they hear, and tasting what they eat.

As this book is not yet officially “published”, I prefer to not give too much away. But I have to say, if you enjoy religious stories, especially ones that give you even more than you will read in Scripture, you certainly want to see what she is writing.

Giving glory to God, Caryl helps make the connection for those who may be sitting on the fence about their religion.

Anti-Christ 2016-2019 : David Montiagne

Not a story for the faint-of-heart, this is definitely a story to read if you are a Christian, you are Jewish, you are religious, you study religion, you hate religion, you have a knack for numbers, you live for what-could-be coincidences; oh goodness, you see where I am going here, right? You should just read this story already!

Anti-Christ Cover David Montiagne

As a disclaimer, I will say I am a Lutheran Christian (who are Protestant), and I spend a minimum of 2 days a week at my church; I teach at our weekly youth group, and I go to church nearly every Sunday, often doing the readings or volunteering in some other way. I am also a Democrat, who has twice voted for President Barack Obama, of which choice I did not, and still do not, have any regrets about my decision. I also did not read David’s first book on the Anti-Christ, “End Times and 2019”, which gives some detail to things that are referenced in this book I am about to review.

This story takes careful detail of Biblical Scripture, current events, and all the dates and numbers that will go far beyond “coincidence”. I will say I had a hard time reading this story. Not because it is hard to read, but because if it is true, it can be very hard to accept.

There is one thing I have heard from several sources, that said, in-a-nutshell, “The Anti-Christ may not even know at the current time that they are indeed, the Anti-Christ.”

To sum it up, this book is claiming that on June 6, 2016, we will indeed be told who the Anti-Christ is. They will be in such a position of power, that it will be difficult for most of the world to deny their requests.

Does this seem ridiculous? Let me take you back to September 11, 2001. At that point when President Bush was in the devastation of the World Trade Centers, vowing vengeance on the culprits, was anyone willing to deny him the vengeance he sought?

We all gathered up as Americans, and Foreign Countries united, and hung our flags out on our front doors, hugged our neighbors, and stopped being greedy-self-centered-jerks for a few months. Can all of this feel-good-united behavior stop what was foretold 2000 years ago?

What do you think? Read this story to either support your claims, or change your mind!

The Scimitar and the Glory Boxes – Frederick Morse

Some of the best books I have read are ones I stumbled upon, and this one is no exception. I actually came across this book on a free ebook site, and due to the quality of this story, I am hoping (and going to suggest) that the author get this book somewhere where it can make the money it justly deserves to.

The Scimitar and the Glory Boxes Cover image

This story takes you on a 2000 year journey that begins with one person trying to obtain the 3 iron nails, and the wooden cross, that were used to crucify Jesus Christ. One man’s journey turns into a journey through the ages, with people hired for the entirety of their lives to track the history of one young girl who experienced stigmata when she was near the holy relics. They were tasked with tracking her family lineage, and passing on that duty to others that could be trusted, and it was made clear that this was a job that would never end. And it did not end. They knew this family’s bloodline would be one that could likely find these relics, no matter how much time may pass.

The iron nails were melted down and used to make a scimitar. The cross was cut down and made into three Glory Boxes, or what we would in today’s time call a Hope Chest. This scimitar enables the owner certain supernatural powers. Currently hid in the desert, it is being tracked both for the right, and wrong, reasons. Dependent on who it is that is searching for it.

This is one story where I do not want to give too much away, and certainly no spoilers. But I assure you, if you enjoy religious based stories, religious historical ideas, and mystery and intrigue, this is a story you will want to read. It is less than 160 pages, and I promise you will not want to put it down once you begin reading it!

Cradle and All – James Patterson

As the owner of too many James Patterson books to count; Okay, you can never have too many James Patterson books!, I figured I was due to review another one. I read this story quite some time ago, and it was a great read!

Cradle and All cover

Anne Fitzgerald is a former nun, and current private investigator. Still having a friendship with the Cardinal of the Archdiocese of Boston, it was him who brought Anne the strangest case yet to date. She travels to Los Angeles and witnesses the horrible effects of the outbreak of polio. Yes, polio. It has just found its way to Boston, so Boston is not yet as ravaged with the disease as Los Angeles is.

What comes next is as unbelievable to the religious PI as it would likely be for most; a pregnant virgin. Not just one, but two. One in Ireland, one in Boston.  And even more epidemics. Seemingly straight from the Bible. The world begins to wonder if this truly is the “second coming” that many have predicted, prophesied, and been waiting for. Anne realizes the danger that these two girls are in with their virgin pregnancies and upcoming births. These two girls are scared. Anne is scared. The whole world is scared.

With this story, Mr. Patterson builds on both our inborn fears and our inborn hopes at the same time. It seems now more than ever that everything, everywhere, is going from bad to worse to unspeakable. This is a great story to make you think, with lots of twists you won’t expect, and it is not full of religious overtones (really, it is not) in case if that isn’t your thing. You should definitely give this one a try!

Merry Christmas!

Bethleham                                                                                                                      The Greatest Gift Of All; My Salvation!

Wishing you and yours a Blessed, Wonderful Christmas, with everything you wish for, granted. To enjoy the gift of giving, and making others happy, is what truly makes me happy!

My Christmas gift to myself is going to be a Nook HD+ 🙂 I have enough gift cards to get this this year. I have always said I will never get an electronic reader, because I love my physical books! But I will definitely be using the apps on here, as well as managing my magazine subscriptions. I stopped my subscriptions to all magazines quite some time ago; I could not stand reading something once, and then throwing it in the trash.

Environmentally, this is a wonderful idea 🙂

Has your Christmas been everything you expected or hoped for? Did you have an outrageous surprise? I would love to hear about it!

Merry Christmas Everyone!
